I have used 6 different types of APP-based home cameras over time. Generally, the whole gist is that you have to pay a monthly subscription free (Ring is the most notorious). For most cameras, the "live view" is the only free feature. Live view is the most useless quality as, unless you are watching it 24/7, and then record it with your phone, it does not help you.
