Window AC units can be noisy; a quieter unit improves usability in bedrooms or study areas. According to Best Buy spec sheet, the maximum adjusted noise level is 60 dB and the minimum ~49 dB. The design emphasizes quiet operation; reviews mention “runs smoothly and gently in the background.” The LED display auto-dims after 60 seconds, reducing irritating light in dark rooms. Good for night use and living spaces where noise is a concern. But some users report vibrations or noise from non-mechanical parts (like plastic housing).
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
This is the second 8000 BTU whisperer tech Windmill AC that I bought this year. Once the room is cooled, this unit is as silent as central air conditioning, and even when it’s cooling, it’s not nearly as loud as a typical window air-conditioning unit. I live in New Jersey, where the summers are hot and humid, but I have never had air conditioning until now. I guess I was just being stubborn because I’m sorry I waited so long but happy that Windmill makes these units.
The two 8000 but units that we purchased have worked well this last season. They are reasonably quiet compared to the window ac units we've had over the years. What I really like is that the cool air comes out the top instead of in your face. It circulates the air better and no shutters to clean or break.
