The LG LW2422IVSM is a high-capacity inverter window air conditioner that combines powerful cooling with energy-efficient and relatively quiet operation. With its dual-inverter compressor and Wi-Fi (ThinQ) connectivity, it’s designed for large rooms where strong, stable cooling is needed, yet without the inefficiencies and noise of traditional fixed-speed window ACs. It’s especially useful in spaces like large living rooms, open-plan areas, or commercial environments.

The dual-inverter compressor allows the unit to ramp up or down output depending on demand. This reduces energy waste, because the compressor doesn't always run at full speed. Theoretically, this increases efficiency, reduces wear, and lowers long-term electricity cost.
Because the compressor can run at lower speeds (in sleep or low mode), the unit can operate at 44 dB in its quietest state, which is very low for a window AC and useful in noise-sensitive rooms.
In higher modes, the noise will increase (to ~62 dB), so there is a trade-off: more cooling power vs. more sound.
With 23,500 BTU capacity, this is a very large unit. The theoretical principle is: you must match BTU capacity to room size. Using such a high-BTU AC in a small room will be inefficient and could lead to short cycling; using it in too large a space might still not be enough or may cost a lot.
ThinQ Wi-Fi control means you can remotely control the unit, schedule it, and possibly monitor energy use. This offers theoretical advantages like “pre-cool before arriving home” or managing the AC more efficiently (saving energy).
Air conditioners consume the most energy when the compressor cycles ON and OFF. Traditional fixed-speed compressors have only two modes—full power or off—leading to high energy spikes and inefficient operation.Cooling capacity must match the “heat load” of a room—the amount of heat entering from sunlight, appliances, people, insulation quality, and open spaces.Noise in an AC originates from airflow, compressor vibration, and motor movement. Inverter compressors reduce noise because they run at lower speeds most of the time instead of cycling at maximum power.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
It's only been about 2 months so grain of salt, but this is what I needed. I have a fairly small bedroom, theoretically a 5k btu wpuld suffice but all the smaller window ACs are loud. This isn't. When the fan is running
This is a big boy so make sure you have some help getting this in the window. Installation is pretty easy if you follow the directions. I got this unit for my mom's bedroom/dressing room. It cools the space easily and does it without much noise. She like the app to control the unit before coming upstairs for the evening, it works well and is easy enough for an older person who is not tech savvy. Highly recommend this unit.
