Measurement method: pin-type contact measurement (insert the stainless-steel pins into the material).
Calibration & material scales: 7 built-in calibration scales for different wood types and building materials (improves readout accuracy across substrates).
Display & modes: color backlit LCD, data-hold, single point / multi-point averaging / max & min modes, and temperature/humidity display.
Range & audience: measures roughly 0%–57% moisture — suitable for firewood, flooring, lumber, drywall and many building materials; intended for installers, inspectors and suppliers.
Pin-type meters measure electrical resistance between two metal probes driven into the material, giving direct, localized moisture readings at the probe site. That direct contact often yields more accurate readings of internal moisture than visual inspection or some pinless scanners, making pin-type tools reliable for confirming moisture in split firewood, studs, flooring and paneling. The tradeoff is that the pins leave very small probe marks — acceptable for raw lumber and hidden framing but less desirable on finished surfaces.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.

Dislike: had to use super small screwdriver to unscrew/open n insert batteries! ANNOYING! Instructions are tiny prints and need magnifying glasses to read. NO info on How To Interpret results on screen! Most important missing info!
