This Frostory system is an aftermarket parking assistance kit meant to help drivers reverse and park more safely by detecting obstacles behind the vehicle. It uses ultrasonic sensors mounted on the rear bumper — when you put the car in reverse, the sensors scan the area behind the vehicle and alert the driver with a buzzer whose frequency increases as you get closer to an obstacle. The detection range is from about 30 cm up to roughly 150 cm (about 1–1.5 m).

Detection Method & Technology (Ultrasonic): Parking sensors typically use ultrasonic waves (sound pulses) to detect obstacles. This means objects must reflect sound waves; very narrow, soft, or angled objects may not always be detected.
Detection Range & Sensitivity: The effective detection distance and minimum threshold — too short a range might not give enough warning, too sensitive may trigger false alarms.
Alert System & Feedback Method: The kind of alert (audible buzzer, frequency variation) and whether there’s a visual indicator — important to gauge how close you are, especially without looking back or using mirrors.
Weather Resistance & Durability: Ability to operate reliably under rain, cold, heat, or when sensors get dirty/splashed — critical for real-world use.
Ease of Installation & Compatibility with Vehicle: Whether the kit includes everything needed for installation (drill bit/hole saw, wiring, module), compatibility with your vehicle’s bumper, and whether drilling/modification is needed.
The Frostory system claims a detection distance of about 30–150 cm behind the vehicle — giving you roughly 1.5 m of buffer when reversing. As you back up, the buzzer’s beep frequency increases — intermittent beeps when far (about 120–150 cm), faster beeps when closer (around 80–120 cm), and continuous tone when very close (< 40–50 cm) — giving graduated feedback to help you judge distance without looking back constantly.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
I have been buying/using these type backup sensors for years now. I love them. I put them on my daughters car as well as my own. Nary an issue, they ALWAYS work and work correctly.
Installed on a 2005 Ford Escape with standard gray plastic bumpers. First I painted the sensors; Behr, Chalk color, Classic Noir, Matte and Rust Oleum 2X Ultraclear, Matte, both from Home Depot.
