The iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum is a smart robotic vacuum designed to automate daily floor cleaning. With ClearView LiDAR navigation, multi‑surface brushes, and connectivity via app and voice assistants, this model aims to balance ease of use with effective cleaning for both hard floors and carpets.
Modern robotic vacuums rely on sensors and mapping systems to navigate efficiently. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) enables precise room mapping by measuring distances with lasers — improving coverage and reducing missed spots. This helps the robot clean in systematic rows rather than random patterns. Efficient navigation increases cleaning thoroughness and battery efficiency.
The effectiveness of a vacuum is shaped by mechanics like suction power and brush design. A multi‑stage cleaning system with power‑lifting suction, edge brushes, and main brushes enhances the machine’s ability to lift embedded dirt from carpet and sweep debris along walls and corners onto the intake path.
Auto‑empty stations enhance convenience by collecting debris autonomously into a base station with a bag. A larger bag capacity (e.g., 75 days) reduces maintenance and minimizes user exposure to allergens — an important factor for allergy sufferers.
Connectivity options (app control, voice assistant support) impact how easily users can schedule cleans, set custom zones, and monitor status. Intuitive control interfaces improve user experience and make smart features more accessible.
Longer battery life means larger cleaning areas per charge and fewer interruptions. For typical home layouts, good runtime ensures rooms are fully covered before returning to the dock.
Vacuums that adapt to both hard floors and carpets with proper suction and brush action are more versatile. Consideration should be given to the size of debris, floor texture, and edge cleaning capability.
This robot uses ClearView LiDAR to scan and map your space continuously. It enables the vacuum to move in neat rows and avoid obstacles smartly, increasing cleaning efficiency. The AutoEmpty base stores debris for up to 75 days, trapping fine dust and allergens in a bag you only replace occasionally — reducing exposure to allergens and user effort. A 3‑stage cleaning system combines strong suction with multi‑surface and edge brushes to clean edges, corners, and large debris effectively — outperforming standard robot cleaners. Control your Roomba via the iRobot Home app, voice assistants (Alexa/Siri/Google), or robot buttons. Set routines, track cleaning status, and create zones — all boosting usability and automation.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
My iRobot was very easy to set up and the mapping technology is amazing. I recommend using the QR code off of the box. The app makes it easy to manage. I like the dual function and ease of use, it has really made keeping the main floor clean it really gets everywhere. We have a large dog with a lot of hair and it handles it great! It’s very durable I would recommend to anyone who wants to make their life easier. It has really helped keeping up with all of the hair. It has my friends with the older versions jealous. It’s definitely worth the money.
This hardware is impressive—how it maps, moves around, and goes through and around various obstacles. I have various carpets, thin rugs, a runner in the hallway, and plants. Some things could become obstacles, but the Roomba went through all of them. You could use the Roomba without the app because you push the button, and it starts doing its thing. I give it four out of five because the app could be better.
