Small wearable speakers must balance weight and size with sound quality. Lightweight units like the 39g are convenient, but they often produce less bass and lower SPL (sound pressure level) compared to larger speakers. Understanding this trade-off helps align expectations with use cases.
A wearable speaker must stay comfortable and secure during movement. This includes evaluating attachment methods (clips vs. magnets), ease of adjusting position, and whether the fit interferes with physical activity.
Bluetooth range, pairing stability, and handheld controls are key factors. Intuitive control layouts improve usability—especially if the speaker is worn over clothing or used during exercise.
Battery capacity influences playtime and user experience. Longer life is crucial for extended outings, while charging convenience (e.g., USB-C) affects how practical daily use can be.
For outdoor use, waterproofing (IP rating) and ruggedness impact longevity and reliability. Products like the 39g are rated for IPX7, meaning they can survive rain or accidental splashes.
This dual attachment allows a secure hold across different clothing materials and accessories. The magnetic system simplifies installation, while the spring clip offers extra stability when moving vigorously. You can expect up to 15 hours of battery life and a roughly 100-foot wireless range, giving flexibility for long activities without frequent recharging or proximity worries. With an IPX7 waterproof rating, this speaker can handle rain, sweat, and accidental splashes. Its featherlight 39 g weight makes it unobtrusive when worn on clothing or gear.
These factors represent the most critical aspects that will impact your satisfaction with this product.
This is marketed as a sports speaker, but it has so many uses. Absolutely love this speaker. I am hard of hearing and have used ear buds for years. That prevents me from using my hearing aids. It’s a PITA having to pull the buds out every time someone wants to talk. The nexgear is a great solution.
Functional Wearable Device - I have custom notifications set up on my phone (Android/BuzzKill/Speaki). Those customizations combined with this $50 speaker mean that when specific notifications come through, I can hear exactly what they are without pulling my phone out. Plus, double tapping the play button triggers Google Assistant/Gemini. Reminders, searches, voice dialing are all much more accessible through the day.
